Photograph of the Mosholu, or Tippetts Brook, below Spuyten Duyvil Hill (Station 17, Map of Borough of the Bronx). Along the base is Dash’s lane, a probable Indian path to Nipnichsen. ‘Mosholu’ is a Lenape word meaning ‘smooth stones.’ The Mosholu Parkway today preserves this indigenous name.
