In early July 1894, preparations were underway for the American Canoe Association (A.C.A.) gathering at Croton Point. The Sing Sing Register documented: "Preparations are being actively pushed on Croton Point to get the spot in readiness for the meet of the American Canoe Association this month" with assembly scheduled for July 12th. Infrastructure included Angus F. Chase operating a grocery business, John W. Hoffman as steward, Deputy Sheriff Eugene Barton as police chief, and Eugene Anderson managing a restaurant. "The artesian wells are working satisfactorily."
The July 28, 1894 Forest and Stream praised the location's accessibility and natural features, noting the "clean sand" beach was "the best ever seen at an A.C.A. meet." The report acknowledged the nearby brickyard "has not proved" problematic and commended its owner, Mr. Cockroft, for assistance. A large photograph documenting the full A.C.A. meet was taken by photographer Stanton of Sing Sing.
