The other branch, constituting about one-quarter of the whole number, called Orthodox Friends, with-drew and erected their present meeting-house at York-town Station. Hicks preached frequently in Yorktown. The present meeting-house at Amawalk was erected in 1831.
Two previous meeting-houses had been burned down. At present four meetings are represented at the Monthly Meetings at Amawalk, namely: Amawalk, Peach Pond. Salem and Peekskill.
The elders are (1884) Sarah S. Weeks, Jane Hal-lock, Amy W. Gritten, James H.
Conklin, Joseph T. Hallock, Edmund P. Hallock and Jesse H.
